9B Family Foundations providing care packages to soldiers
BONNERS FERRY — 9B Family Foundations is inviting community members to join them in gathering care packages for deployed soldiers.
“I know several in our community have family also currently deployed,” said Charli Turner with 9B Family Foundations. “The sacrifice of a soldier and their families is near to my heart.”
Her father served in Afghanistan and my brother served in Iraq. Currently, her daughter's husband is deployed and serving overseas.
In each care package, a pocket sized copy of Psalm 91 will be included.
“Psalm 91 has come to be known as the soldiers' prayer,” Turner said when announcing the project over social media. “During World War I, one particular brigade recited the psalm every day. They were nicknamed the '91st Brigade' by other soldiers. This brigade was involved in three of the bloodiest battles of the war. While other brigades had up to 90% casualties, the 91st brigade did not suffer a single combat-related death.”
On Friday at 6 p.m. 9B Family Foundations is inviting what they are calling ”Psalms 91 Families” to join them as they put together the care packages for shipping. Light snacks will be provided.
“There will be time spent praying for these troops and their families, our country and our world,” Turner wrote.
Items such as non-perishable snacks, hygiene supplies, wet wipes, beef jerky, gum, finger nail clippers and chapstick will be collected at 7142 Second St. in Bonners Ferry.
Cards and letters of encouragement or support are also being collected and will be added to packages to show troops some love.
If you have a soldier that you would like to receive a package, please reach out to 9B Family Foundations and provide the name and information of the soldier.
