Portion of Augusta to be closed during school hours

BONNERS FERRY — Starting May 1, a section of Augusta Street between Lincoln Street and Stephens Street directly in front of Valley View Elementary will be closed to vehicle traffic during school hours, Bonners Ferry city officials announced.

This closure, which will occur Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., will address significant safety concerns of students crossing Augusta Street to access the main school building and the kindergarten annex located across Augusta Street.

The city asks that the local traffic make alternate arrangements to avoid this closure and help ensure the safety of the children and staff as they access the school buildings.
