Sew it, grow it, show it at the Boundary County Fair
BONNERS FERRY — Sew, you’ve spent all year growing the best veggies in the county.
Now it’s time to show them off as the Boundary County Fair returns Tuesday, Aug. 8-12 with the theme, “Sew it, grow it, show it.”
Each day is packed with events, from showing animals, crafts and vegetables to evening events for the whole family and more.
The butterfly garden is back, sponsored by Dr. Burt Veterinary Care with plants provided by SugarPlum Floral.
Registration forms for the Little Princess and Prince contest and coloring contest are due Monday, Aug. 7, at the fair office by 7 p.m.
Food vendors will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the week. Cecil the Magician, Talent Team Performing Arts, and the 2130 Alpha+ robotics team will have presentations and events throughout the week.
Some of Tuesday's events include a baked good silent auction from 6-8 p.m., and opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. in the Indoor Arena. Fair royalty and the prince and princess will be announced.
On Wednesday, the cornhole tournament returns at 5 p.m. on the blacktop. At 7 p.m., Luke Yates and Christy Lee take the stage for the evening concert. A beer garden will be open during the festivities.
Family Fun Night is Thursday at the outdoor arena at 6:30 p.m. Events may include the three-legged race, duck/chicken picking and other races. Come see the greased pig event, or sign up to try your luck at nabbing the swine. Admission is $2, with kids under 2 years old admitted free.
Some of Friday’s events include a seed spitting contest at 2:30 p.m. and the 4-H/FFA Market Animal Sale at 7 p.m. at the Indoor Arena.
Saturday’s events included a parade downtown Bonners Ferry at noon. The 40th annual Motorcycle Show will follow the parade. A water balloon toss is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., followed by a pie eating contest at 3:30 p.m. and a watermelon eating contest at 4:30 p.m.
