BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County’s youth volleyball program has been alive and well this summer with camps and overnight tournaments.

The rising fifth through eighth grade camp saw more than 50 young ladies honing their volleyball skills over three days in June.

At the high school level, Bonners Ferry high school volleyball sent 22 players to an overnight volleyball tournament in Cottonwood in June. Fielding three teams that each played over 20 sets in a dusk-till-dawn tournament aimed at exponentially increasing touches on the ball, building camaraderie and teamwork, and making memories that players will never forget.

The program closed its BFHS preseason activities with a free-to-athletes clinic aimed at working on intermediate and advanced skills for high school athletes; with over 30 athletes in attendance, the future of BFHS volleyball is bright.

As with all IHSAA sports, we are ready for the season to begin Aug. 7; tryouts that week will be from 4-6 p.m. at the high school. Up-and-coming freshman or junior athletes must have a current physical to be able to participate in tryouts.

Volleyball will also be hosting a car wash Saturday, Aug. 19, at Umpqua Bank (formerly Columbia Bank) in Bonners Ferry. Proceeds from this car wash will primarily be used to pay for summer camps and tournaments throughout the year and next summer.

Volleyball’s season opener will be away against Stillwater Christian on Aug. 28 with their first home games Tuesday, Aug. 29, against Kellogg.

Come on out and support BFHS Volleyball. Go Badgers!
