Fire on Mount Clifty, small with crews working
PARADISE VALLEY---- Last night's thunderstorm has caused a 1/4 acre fire is blazing on Mount Clift, located in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest in the Bonners Ferry Rangers District.
Kary Maddox, Public Information Officer for the Idaho Panhandle National Forest said firefighters started the initial attack on the fire around noon today.
Due to the remote location and steep grade of the mountain's face, water is being flown in, Maddox said. Addition firefighters are being flown in to assist the containment.
At this time no homes or private property is at risk. The fire is located 1.7 air miles from the base of the mountain.
This summer there have been approximately 150 forest fires in the Idaho Panhandle.
