Bateman named Top 10 Defensive Lineman

| August 10, 2023 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry High School senior Trey Bateman was named one of the Top 10 Defensive Lineman in Idaho to watch out for in the 2023 football season by IdahoSports.com

These selections have been made by the editorial staff at IdahoSports.com, and are based on a number of factors, including: returning All-State or All-Conference pedigree, college recruiting hype, and the good old-fashioned eye test.

Bateman may be known more for his rebounding abilities on the basketball court or his pitching prowess on the baseball diamond, but Trey Bateman is also a very talented defensive lineman. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound senior finished with 36 tackles a year ago, while also racking up five sacks and six hurries for a Badgers team that went 9-1.

Other top lineman included

Nik Versis, Sr, Carey, Camden DeGraw, Sr, Coeur d’Alene, Seth Brock, Sr, Eagle, Garrett Nelson, Jr, Firth, Porter Whipple, Sr, Kamiah, Dallas Morgan, Sr, Kendrick, Landon Reynolds, Sr, Priest River, Ryan Bingham, Sr, Sugar-Salem and Arron McDaniel, Sr, West Side.

Story updated to reflect Bateman was named top 10 Defensive Lineman in the state, rather than offensive lineman, which was incorrectly reported.
