Alice Agnes Neumayer, 90

| August 17, 2023 1:00 AM

Alice Agnes Neumayer, 90, was embraced into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Aug. 9, 2023.

She was born June 29 or June 30 (around midnight), 1933, and always enjoyed celebrating her birthday on two days! She was the seventh of 10 children born to Alois A. Neumayer and Natalie (Dion) Neumayer in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Alice’s life was dedicated to the service and love of her God, family and friends. She never met a stranger, accepting all things good and bad, and was always generous with her time, talent and treasures. If you were fortunate enough to have known Alice, you can be sure that you were always in her prayers.

After graduating high school in Bonners Ferry, she earned an associate's degree from North Idaho College (NIC). Following graduation, she entered the Carmelite Cloister of Nuns in Texas. Finding it difficult to keep the vow of silence and considering her love of people, she joined the Sisters of Social Service in Los Angeles, Calif. While in Los Angeles, she became an occupational therapy assistant, working in nursing homes and caring for the elderly.

Alice’s true vocation was as a caregiver. She cared for her aging parents, Aunt Goldie and Uncle Joe Neumayer, Alzheimer’s patients at home, and various nursing homes. One of her most cherished times was assisting in raising Luka, Anya and Micah Krmpotich — she loved them as her own children.

She loved her Catholic faith and was a dedicated parishioner of St. Ann’s Parish, attending daily Mass, participating as a lector, choir member and leading Bible study. Alice loved God’s creation and was blessed to have lived in Bonner’s Ferry with its surrounding mountains, rivers and streams. She loved huckleberrying, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Her parents preceded her in death; along with her brothers, Arthur, John, Phillip and Gene Neumayer; and her sister, Jo McNall. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy King, Polly Parisot and Helen Harris; and her brother, Jim Neumayer; along with her sister-in-law, Donna (Dawson) Neumayer; her brother-in-law, Don McNall; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Jill (Neumayer) Bean, Sheila Harris, and the staff at Boundary County Restorium for their excellent care of Alice in her final years.

Viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, at Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
