BONNERS FERRY — Tuesday’s rain made the perfect soccer conditions — for winning that is.

At the half the Badger boys soccer team lead 1-0, over Priest River, due to an on goal by the Spartans while defending the goal.

Returning from halftime, in the 48th minute Badger forward Nikita Rawson broke away from the Spartan defense and scored. He continued the attack and followed with two on goal shots the next two minutes. He finally sunk his second goal.

The Spartan defenses put up a good fight and fended off many Badger advances, as Bonners Ferry dominated ball possession. Priest River had difficulty moving up field and getting past the Badger defense.

With five minutes left in the match, senior Jesse Dye scored for the Badgers making it 4-0.

Rawson tried a fifth goal, and a hat trick, in the final minute, but the Priest River’s goalkeeper made the save before the whistle blew.

Badger boys soccer was scheduled to play the 3A Orofino Maniacs and the 5A Lakeland Hawks over the weekend, but air quality conditions caused by regional fires caused the games to be rescheduled.
