BADGER SOCCER: Girls go 4-0 against Cougars, boys rally at halftime
KALISPELL — Badger girls soccer (2-0) defeated the Stillwater Christian Cougars 4-0 last Friday, Aug. 25.
Bonners Ferry head coach Emily Winebark said players switched up positions in the match in order to get the girls out of their comfort zone.
It worked.
Senior defender Asha Abubakari moved to sweeper, allowing senior Lindsay Onstott to move to up to offense and score a goal.
Other goals were scored by senior Brenly Hyams, with two, and Giavanna Roemer scored one goal.
Winebark also commended junior varsity goalie Hallie Hartman, who played the second half in the varsity game, earning three saves.
Badgers will play Grangeville at home on Friday with varsity playing at 4 p.m.
KALISPELL — Bonners Ferry boys soccer (1-1) matched Stillwater Christian in the second half with two goals, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Cougars on Friday, who won 4-2.
Stillwater earned two goals in the first half, holding the Badgers scoreless, until the second half.
The Badgers will face Grangeville (2-1) at home on Friday at 6 p.m.
