BONNERS FERRY—Second Chance Animal Adoption Thrift Store is hosting a Kids Shop Free event for children ages three to 12, which will sunset on Dec. 23.

Kids are invited to choose a gift for a family member, friend or anyone they wish. Participants  also get to choose a toy for themselves. While there is an age limit, Second Chance is happy to accommodate special needs children of any age.

Hours for the event are Thursday-Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m, every week until Dec. 23

The staff at SCAA  assures that the selection of gifts will be just as good on the last day of the event as it was when it began.

The Curtain Call Drama Club members are volunteering as little elves to assist young shoppers with gift selection and packaging.

This is the first year Second Chance Animal Adoption Thrift store is holding this event. In the past they have participated in and held other events to support the children of Boundary County.

“We wanted to do something that the entire community of children could participate in.” Amy Bridges, a Second Chance staff member said.

And so far, the event has been successful and a hit with the kids.

“It is so much fun to see the children’s faces. They are so excited about it.” Bridges said. “We hope to do it again next year.”

There is no income or need requirement to participate. Just make sure to check in with the front counter before shopping.

SCAA thanks local community businesses and other donors for sponsoring the event.
