BFPD warns of scam calls
The City of Bonners Ferry Police Department would like to make the public aware of a recent telephone scam that was perpetrated upon a local business.
The scammer called an employee of the business and pretended to be the owner of that business.
The scammer asked that employee to take a large amount of money and wire it to a bank account and also convert some of it to crypto currency and deliver it to a specified place.
This request was not legitimate, BFPD officials announced.
BFPD would like to caution all business owners and employees to be vigilant in confirming that any requests for transfers of funds are legitimate before completing a transfer. A suggestion for confirming legitimacy would be contacting the requestor directly on a different phone number or in person to confirm that the request is legitimate.
