'Angel tree' brings in abundance of toys at Coldwell Banker
BONNERS FERRY — Christmas cheer and giving were on full display at Coldwell Banker North Woods Realty as piles of Christmas gifts for local children littered the floor and area surrounding the “angel tree.”
For the first year ever, Coldwell Banker North Woods Realty hosted an angel tree, where community members could pick up a Christmas wish for local kids in need.
Real Estate Broker CJ Tuma said the fundraiser is separate from the Care and Share program, another local fundraiser for Christmas gifts for local kids. The announcement of the tree was posted on the business’s social media pages and community members answered the call to provide gifts.
“Bonners Ferry really stepped up, we have gifts for the 60 to 70 kids in the program,” he said, adding 99% of the requests were for attainable gifts.
People donated snow pants, snow boots, sports balls, dolls and boxes of toys.
Realtor Jeff Jones said when many people brought in presents they would grab another name off the tree and go out to play Santa again.
“They kept wanting to give,” he said.
Gifts were given out Wednesday and Thursday.
