Badger basketball at holiday tournament, rankings
Bonners Ferry High School basketball teams will compete at the East Valley Holiday Classic Tournament on Dec. 27-28, where they will face Washington state and regional teams.

Boys basketball
Bonners Ferry (6-2) leads 3A Intermountain League foe Timberlake (4-6) in the league and state rankings. At the state level, per MaxPreps.com rankings, the Badgers are in the No. 2 position, trailing Kimberly (6-2). However, the Badgers are averaging 73.75 points a game and allowing their opponents an average of 48.63 points a game, which is well above Kimberly's game average of 64.86 points and their opponents averaging 49 points a game.
On Dec. 21 in a coaches poll, conducted by IdahoSports.com, Bonners Ferry was ranked No. 1 in 3A state earning six votes, which is four votes higher than No. 2 Snake Valley received.
Bonners Ferry's two losses came from 5A Coeur d'Alene and 5A defending state champion Lake City.
Girls basketball
The Badgers (6-3) are ranked eighth in the 3A division. Intermountain League opponent Timberlake is ranked third with an 8-2 record. Teton is ranked first with an undefeated record of 11-0 and is trailed by South Fremont (11-2).
Bonners Ferry is averaging 62.88 points a game, with opponents averaging 42.63 points a game.
Timberlake is averaging 56 points again, with opponents averaging 32.70 points a game.
Teams leading in the rankings have played 11 or more games, as the Badgers as of Dec. 26 have only played nine games this season.
Bonners Ferry will face Timberlake for the first league game of the season Jan. 19, in Bonners Ferry for the Backwoods Brawl, a spirit competition and sporting event. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Bonners Ferry High School.
