BONNERS FERRY — Law enforcement agencies participated in several training dives in the Kootenai River using a weighted dummy to practice search and recovery techniques.

On Jan. 25, the Boundary County civers did the final dive to locate and recover the dummy which will be returned to Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

The dives consisted of searching in depths up to 70 feet deep and in water that was 36 degrees. Sheriff’s divers Caleb Watts and Neal Dyer brought the dummy, which will be used for future training, up from the depths.

Divers from Kootenai County Sheriff's Office, Boundary County Sheriff’s Office and Boundary Search and Dive Rescue participated in the training.
