BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County Skatepark Alliance recently presented local skateboarder and volunteer Clayton Isaac with a skateboard deck for his dedication and assistance to the alliance.

Isaac was surprised when he came walking into the meeting Thursday night, thinking he was attending a regular meeting regarding building the skate park.

He smiled and said, “I definitely needed a new skateboard,” saying his current board’s tail was falling off.

The skateboard deck was raffled off last year and won by longtime local skatepark advocate Craig Anderson. He requested BCSA give the deck to a deserving kid.

“So it was a win-win for us, as we decided the most deserving kid we knew was one of the skaters who has stuck with us and supported all our events since the beginning,” said Jeffery Phillips with BCSA.

BCSA officials said Isaac is always willing to help out.

BCSA officials thanked Christian Westbrook, winner of the 50-50 raffle who donated her winnings back to the alliance to continue their mission to update the Bonners Ferry Skatepark.

Skate decks were donated by Yousta, a skating merchandiser in Coeur d’Alene and supporter of BCSA.

BCSA holds twice a month meetings at the Park and Recreation office. All meetings are open to the public, come and help build a skatepark.
