City to hold another workshop for LOT
BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry City Council will hold a workshop for a proposed local option tax on Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. before going out again for community input.
The city’s general budget has a now annual shortfall of approximately $450,000 which stemmed from an Idaho Supreme Court decision of no longer allowing enterprise funds to be transferred to the general budget. The city has opted to sell property, cut expenses and proposed a LOT to cover the shortfall.
At the workshop the city council will discuss the duration of the LOT and how the funds will be derived and utilized. The city has to submit the ballot language to the county clerk by March 17 in order to make the May election.
Also, on Feb. 16 at 5:15 p.m. the city will have a workshop with Planning and Zoning and the Advisory Committee to consider a draft of the city’s Comprehensive Plan, which is a 10-year plan for long-term planning.
