At its meeting Monday night, the Kootenai Valley Commercial Club voted to support the proposed amendment to the homestead exemption law which would reduce the exemption under the statures from $5000 to $2000.

The City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night authorizing the town board to immediately purchase a site and construct thereon reservoirs for the storage of water and to purchase and lay necessary new water mains.

The town board of trustees has issued a call for bids for the construction of concrete sidewalks and curbs and gutters and the hard-surfacing of First Street in Park Addition.

Local members of the Boundary County T.V. Translator District this week have expressed grave concern- along with other members of the National Translator Association- that pending decisions by the Federal Communications Commission will deprive most rural communities of all television sports and other expensive programs.

Louisiana-Pacific Corporation honored its plant employees here at a special dinner last Saturday evening at the Legion Hall for one year of service without a serious loss-time accident. It was a cordial gathering of about 75 plant employees and L-P officials.

Florists’ Transworld Delivery Association (FTD), the worldwide floral delivery organization, announced this week that Melior’s Floral has been selected as a member in the association.

Ninety-two-year-old Burt Eberly still bowls every Sunday night. As part of the Moonshiners League in Bonners Ferry, he bowls on the White Lightening team. Eberly usually has a score of 170, but this year is a little lower with a 156.

North Idaho Energy Logs now belongs to second-generation owners. Clark Fairchild, Rob Pluid, and Tom Oxford recently took over ownership of the Moyie Springs company. Clark Fairchild’s father, Jim Fairchild, and Rob Pluid’s father, Bob Pluid, founded the Roosevelt Road company in 1986 and recently retired.

Jessica Short was crowned Miss Bonners Ferry International during a Saturday night pageant in Priest River. The 18-year-old Bonners Ferry woman will vie for Miss Idaho in Boise.
