A dispensation permitting the organizing of Bonners Ferry Commandery of the Knights Templar was received here Monday by Byron N. Hawks from the Grand Commander of Idaho.

Bonners Ferry’s new high school building will soon be ready for occupancy and at a conference held Monday between contractor Peter Young, the school board of trustees and Architect Price, it was arranged that the new building could be turned over to Independent School District No. 4, next Monday.

A bill providing for a bank depositors’ guarantee fund and the creation of a state banking advisory board was introduced in the Senate of the State Legislature Tuesday morning.

The annual 4-H League Kickoff and Recognition Banquet will be held on Monday, Feb.19, at 7 p.m. at the Lantern Café. This event is held each year to honor 4-H leaders for their service during the past year. It is also the first event of the new 4-H year. Sims Implement Company sponsors this yearly event, now in its 18th year.

Miss Eileen Ann Bump became the bride of David Maxfield in a Dec. 30 ceremony performed by Rev. Charles S. Neville in the Episcopal Church of The Good Samaritan, Corvallis. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bump of Kings Valley, Oregon and Mrs. Ruby Maxfield of Bonners Ferry.

Gordon Allured is rated as one of the fine freshmen in the Northwest in the high jump event. Last year, he won the Idaho State high jump with a leap of 6-foot-7, even though he never had a chance to train on an official take-off jumping pit.

A home for up to eight women recovering from alcohol and drug abuse has received preliminary approval from the city. Bonners Ferry Planning and Zoning Board voted 3-1 to recommend that city council ok the operation, which will be run from a six-bedroom home at 6472 Polk.

The Bonners Ferry eighth grade girls' basketball team went undefeated Saturday to win a tournament in St. Maries.

Bonners Ferry will have seven possible seeded wrestlers for the District 3A tournament on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Post Falls High School.

Bonners Ferry Soccer Coach Wayne Wilkerson has been named Idaho State Coaches 2007 Coach of the Year.
