Sturgeon Travel Center building timeline
BONNERS FERRY — At the Jan. 9 Boundary County commissioners meeting, Road and Bridge officials shared the tentatively building timeline for the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho’s Sturgeon Travel Center Plaza located south of Three-Mile junction.
Drainage systems will be built at Sunrise and Great Northern roads. There will be a memorandum of understanding with Boundary County to share the roadway design and construction for the county’s proportional share of roadway and traffic control construction.
Design plans will be developed and there will be a public open house, tentatively scheduled for Feb. 22 at the County Annex (the former armory) from 3-6 p.m.
The design plans will have to be in the final stages when the project goes out to bid. The bid will be advertised and awarded.
The opening date goal for the travel center is July 2023.
