Backwoods Brawl competition coming soon
BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry and Timberlake High Schools are set to compete in a soon-to-be annual spirit competition — the Backwoods Brawl — on Jan. 27 in Spirit Lake.
The competition will be similar to the former Moose Madness competition against Sandpoint High School, Dillion Mai, BFHS ASB president, told the Herald.
“So far we have raised over 2,000 pounds of food and we are still expecting donations at the high school until next Thursday, Jan. 26,” Mai said.
The competition will include, varsity girls and boys basketball games, a battle of the bands, cheerleading competitions, student section pride competition, decorating competition and a lip syncing battle.
There are still tickets and t-shirts available at the high school and the boy's basketball senior night this Friday, Jan. 20, for $5. Only 500 tickets are available for Bonners Ferry fans, including students and parents.
A spirit bus will be provided for students to ride down to Timberlake.
BFHS Leadership encourages all students and community members to come down and support an amazing fun event.
“We want to have our half of the gym packed and loud for the big games,” Mai said.
Tickets bought for Backwoods Brawl will be accepted as entry to the Junior Varsity games as well. All ticket proceeds will go to BFHS, unless bought at the game. There is no guarantee tickets will be available at the ticket booth before the games.
“We want to start out this new tradition with a bang and have an amazing time,” Mia said.
T-shirts for the event are $15.
Last January, a spirit competition was scheduled against Kellogg High School, called the Class of the Claws. The competition was canceled due to the untimely death and subsequent funeral of a prominent community member in Kellogg.
