Independence Day, booming success

| July 6, 2023 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — The Bonners Ferry Independence Day parade and festivities saw another successful year.

At 3 p.m. on the Fourth of July, downtown Bonners Ferry was packed with community members and families turning out to celebrate Independence Day. Everyone came out for the event, from the longtime celebrators to those just old enough to wave a flag.

Candy was thrown, classic cars, machinery and housing options were displayed on floats. The celebration continued at the fairgrounds with games, live music and with fireworks to top it all off.

Eastport also held its own celebration, including a parade, potluck and fireworks at Feist Creek.

The Boundary County Fourth of July celebration is made possible by community donations and volunteers. Forerunner Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that handles the finances for the celebration.

“Every dollar donated goes directly to our Fourth of July efforts and is tax deductible,” said organizer John Becker. “We have no paid staff and/or members. Our work is 100% volunteer and we are committed to providing our county with an ever-improving celebration.”

Looking forward to the 2024 Fourth of July celebration, donations can be made via PayPal, ForerunnerIdaho@gmail.com; Venmo, John-Becker-191; by check, Forerunner Inc., P.O. Box 1403, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805; via direct deposit, Mountain West Bank in Bonners Ferry (just tell them it’s for the fireworks).

Donations are tax-deductible.
