SPOKANE — Bonners Ferry fifth grader Gabriella Curreri finished second at the local Drive, Chip and Putt, a PGA event for kids.

By taking second at the local qualifier at The Creek at Qualchan in Spokane, she qualified for a sub-regional contest scheduled for Aug. 18 at Circling Raven Resort in Coeur d’Alene.

If she qualifies in August, Curreri will advance to the regional qualifier at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., on Sept. 23.

Drive, Chip and Putt is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Boys and girls compete in separate divisions in four age categories, the competition’s site said. The overall champion in each category is determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.
