Dolly Parton Imagination Library comes to Boundary County
BONNERS FERRY — The Dollywood Foundation is sending free books to kids all over the world, with Boundary County becoming a recent addition to the program.
Donations from the United Way of North Idaho and the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho allowed Boundary County to join the program.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library allows eligible children to receive free books each month in the mail until they turn 5 years old. Books mailed directly to the child allow them to build a personal library.
If a child is signed up at birth, they will collect a total of 60 free books.
The Bonners Ferry Eagles and Boundary County Library have been working to bring this program to the children of Boundary County for several months and are excited to see the rush of signups already these first few weeks, BCL officials said in a press release.
Books will start arriving for those already signed up in July. Signing up is quick and easy, visit Imaginationlibrary.com or stop by the library and talk to a staff member.
The Imagination Library partners with local affiliates and partners who help bring the program to cities, towns and communities around the world. Local affiliates can be businesses, school districts, small or large organizations, or simply individuals who share in the mission and purpose of the Imagination Library.
Local affiliates are responsible for enrolling children who live within a program’s geographical area. They promote their local programs online and at events. While the Imagination Library negotiates wholesale pricing for the books, local affiliates and partners are responsible for securing funds to cover that cost. Books are 100% free to enrolled children because local affiliates secured funds to cover the cost of the books and the shipping fees.
