Local skate jam for National Go Skateboarding Day

| June 15, 2023 1:00 AM

BONNERS FERRY — The Boundary County Skatepark Alliance will hold its annual National Go Skateboarding Day skate jam June 21.

From 4-7 p.m. June 21, the Bonners Ferry Skatepark will be packed with family-friendly fun. Event-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and even a pop-up canopy or umbrellas.

Bottled water and snack concessions will be provided and food vendors such as Dally-Up Coffee and Huckleberry Hollow with their gourmet popcorn will be in attendance as well.

BCSA will be taking donations for the new park, with volunteers ready and available to discuss future plans and enjoy the first day of summer in style.

BCSA officials thanked all those that came to the rummage sale and helped make it a huge success. BCSA brought in $893 in sales/donations on that day alone, all of which are going toward its short-term goal of raising $10,000 by Christmas.

“We are looking forward to an exciting year of local events and community involvement, and to building our core of volunteers to help with sourcing and obtaining the construction funding in 2024,” said Jeff Philips, BCSA volunteer.

The Boundary County Skatepark Alliance is a new volunteer advocacy group for the express purpose of providing the youth of the community a safe, well-lit, and well-kept facility of which the entire community can be proud.
