Benton Bangs, son of Oscar and Stella (Stoos) Bangs, operated Bonners Books for ten years before he passed away in 1982.

Paul and Barb Rawlings acquired the book store in 1982; having a grand opening at the store’s location in the Hotel Casey Building (Boardwalk Building).

A young, John O’Connor, worked in the bookstore, and then purchased it from the Rawlings in 1986. John moved his bookstore from the Hotel Casey Building to the Hawkins Bank Building, where it is today.

The red bookmark was printed at the Bonners Ferry Herald Print Shop in March 1979 for Ben Bangs. Bangs ordered 1,000 bookmarks in “mixed colors” and paid $31.20.
