The Class A Meat Market is getting some improvements. The proprietors plan to construct a new smokehouse. The ice house is also being enlarged.
This week the editor of the Herald received a quantity of government garden seeds from Congressman Burton L. French, which will be distributed to the people of Boundary County who wish to call for a package.
The Kootenai Land and Realty Co., N.W. Baker, proprietor, moved its offices this week from the First State Bank building to the Casey Hotel block.
50 Years Ago
B.F.H.S. “High School Bowl” team will compete Sunday, March 4, against a Rosalia High School team at 6 p.m. on KHQ, Spokane. Members of the team are Chuck Newhouse, Captain Jim Collyer, Mike Hunter, and Steve Nelson, with alternates Wendy Coram and Ken Reeves.
Many juveniles have been involved in several incidents, including another car theft and a brazen theft at a furniture store during the past week. A total of 15 persons have been nabbed, mostly by the city police.
Bonners Ferry fighters seemed to steal the show last weekend in a card at Spokane promoted by the Valley Eagles. Doug Hatfield won the outstanding award in the three-team event as he stopped his opponent halfway through the second round. Three other fighters did well also. Scott Gross stopped his man at the end of the first round. Jeff Neumayer stopped his opponent at the 30-second mark in the first round, and Randy Parish won a big unanimous decision.

After nine days of looking for sponsors, $14,000 has been raised for the first Bonners Ferry Swish on Aug. 2 and 3. National sponsors include Budweiser and Odom Distributing.
Gini Woodward, secretary for Boundary County Historical Society accepted $130 from second–graders at Valley View Elementary School. The students in the classrooms of Donna Kent, Debi Davis, and Teresa Smith raised the money by selling hot chocolate and cookies. The Historical Society will use the funds to restore old school photos at the museum.
Bonners Ferry junior Dayne Swisher out-pointed Priest River senior Justin Lopez to win the 3A 140-pound championship Saturday at the 51st Idaho State Wrestling Championships in Nampa.
