100 Years Ago
Fred Gleed received his commission as postmaster of Bonners Ferry last Thursday.
At a meeting held at the courthouse last Tuesday, the Boundary Holstein-Friesian Bull Association was organized and a constitution and by-laws were adopted.
Cecil Poston had a narrow escape from being killed or at least seriously injured last Monday morning when he was struck and knocked down by logs being unloaded from a flat car into the mill pond of the Bonners Ferry Lumber Co.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is making a survey in Bonners Ferry for the purpose of starting a lodge. This year the Eagles are celebrating their Diamond Anniversary. The No. 1 lodge was started in Seattle 25 years ago.
The Bonners Ferry High School “High School Bowl Team” won easily over Rosalia last Sunday and look ahead this Sunday to a contest with Spokane’s West Valley High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim McElhose have sold their mill to Mr. and Mrs. Gifford Dinning. The mill, for a number of years, has specialized in studs and long lumber and has also accepted orders for tongue and groove and paneling lumber.

A Boundary County sheriff’s deputy was injured shooting out the tire of a suspected drunk driver's vehicle who had led police on a high-speed chase on Friday night. Deputy Willie Eddy was treated at Boundary Community Hospital for shoulder and neck injuries after suspect Lorelee Young, 46, Sandpoint, hit Eddy with her vehicle as she attempted to flee.
A 2006 B.F.H.S. graduate finished second at 149 pounds in the Pacific 10 Championships in Eugene, Oregon Monday. Boise State freshman Adam Hall defeated Lucas Espericuetta of Stanford 9-6 to earn his place in the finals.
It’s likely the entire four-year-old sidewalk at Bonners Ferry High School will need to be replaced at a cost of $89,000-$100,000. It’s not known if the architect, contractor or school district will pay for the new sidewalk.
