2023 4th of July Celebration fundraiser
BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County’s Fourth of July celebration takes place thanks to the hard work of a team of community volunteers bringing the light show and people all together.
This year, celebration organizers are seeking sponsors and volunteers to help them deliver a third year of fireworks and festivities. Previously this event was scheduled by Gary Leonard.
“Every dollar donated goes directly to our 4th of July efforts and is tax deductible. We have no paid staff and/or members. Our work is 100% volunteer and we are committed to providing our county with an ever-improving celebration,” organizer John Becker said.
Generous donations over the last two years have allowed organizers to a wireless firing system and over 600 mortar tubes as well as an annual supply of fireworks.
For the 2023 celebration, the group has set a goal of $15,500 for the celebration — $10,000 for fireworks, $2,000 for improved mortar racks and up to $3,500 for insurance.
Donations are tax deductible and can be made via PayPal, ForerunnerIdaho@gmail.com; Venmo, John-Becker-191; by check, Forerunner Inc, PO Box 1403, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805; via direct deposit, Mountain West Bank in Bonners Ferry (just tell them it’s for the fireworks); or to arrange an in-person donation, call or text 208-255-8955 and schedule a time/place to meet up.
Forerunner Inc. a 501c3 nonprofit organization that handles the finances for the Boundary County Fourth of July celebration.
In addition to donations, organizers are seeking volunteers for the event, including:
• Game/booth coordinator, who would organize games for the evening after the parade; three-legged race, egg toss, pie eating, dunk tank, face painting… whatever you can come up with.
• Entertainment coordinator, who would find, schedule and host entertainment for the evening.
Ideally, additional volunteers will assist with either of these positions.
