BCFCH looking for next build

| May 5, 2023 1:00 AM

Boundary County Fuller Center for Housing is excited to announce it has come out of hibernation and is starting its next build.

The following is the schedule for the 2023 BCFCH Partner Family Selection and build process:

• Mandatary Partner Family Orientation: Tuesday, May 16, Mugsy’s, 6 p.m.

• Application Packets Due: Friday, June 2, (packets can be picked up and submitted to Alliance Title, formerly Boundary Abstract, located at 6977 S. Main St., Bonners Ferry, or contact Teresa Rae at 208-946-6582 for an electronic copy)

• Partner Family Selection: NLT Friday, July 7

• Construction Start Date: September 2023

"For those in our county not familiar with BCFCH, our mission is dedicated toward eliminating substandard housing in our community through the construction, renovation and preservation of homes for some of the most vulnerable residents of Boundary County, Idaho," said Teresa Rae, president of BCFCH.

BCFCH partners with families, faith groups, local businesses, local trade groups, other nonprofit organizations, individuals and volunteers to provide decent, affordable housing to Boundary County residents in need.

"Meeting this basic human need of affordable and adequate shelter enables stability for the entire family, allowing them to focus on being productive members of society without the stress and fear of living in substandard, inadequate or transient housing," Rae said.

In order to qualify for a BCFCH home, you must have a qualifying need and not be able to secure a traditional home loan, you must have resided in Boundary County for at least the past two years, you must show that you have the ability to repay a no-interest home loan tailored to your income level, and you must be willing to put sweat equity into your own home’s construction.

Those seriously considering submitting an application for the program, need to be at the mandatory Partner Family Orientation at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 16 at Mugsy’s. BCFCH will discuss more in-depth the program and its requirements while at the same time allowing interested families to ask questions.

For those in Boundary County who want to volunteer with the program, please contact Teresa Rae at 208-946-6582 or Will and Tammy Hedrick at 208-610-0154.

"We are always looking for folks to help out no matter your skill level," Rae said.
