Badgers strike early, sweep Spartans, Newell scores four goals
Badger soccer teams swept Priest River on Oct. 4, with the girls scoring three goals in fifteen minutes and Eli Newell earned four goals for the Badger boys.

Bonners Ferry 4, Priest River 0
PRIEST RIVER — Bonners Ferry (7-6) struck early against the Priest River Spartan earning three goals in the first fifthteen minutes and winning 4-0 on Oct. 4.
Brenly Hymas led the Badgers, scoring two early goals, one in the first minute of the match.
The Badgers lead 4-0 at half.
Maddie Hart contributed two assists while Markynn Pluid came away with a goal and an assist. Alexys Mierke scored the fourth goal for the Badgers.
“Maddie Hart played great at midfield with two assists,” Emily Winebark, head Bonners Ferry coach said. “We used the second half to put players in new positions, looking forward to where some placements might happen next year and helping the girls understand the jobs and challenges of other positions.”
Winebark added this was part of the reason the team didn't score in the second half.
“The girls got really good experience trying some new formations and positions and getting out of their comfort zone.
Badger girls are currently third in 3A District I.

Newell scores four goals for second game in a row
Bonners Ferry 6, Priest River 0
PRIEST RIVER — Bonners Ferry standout forward Eli Newell maintained his four goals a game streak for the Badgers en route to a 6-0 victory over Priest River on Wednesday.
Senior Jesse Dye and junior Jesse Fess also scored goals on the night for Bonners Ferry.
The boys play Orofino tonight at home at 5 p.m.
