Volleyball No. 1 in league, falls to Lions and Bears in three sets

BONNERS FERRY — Badger volleyball (7-9) fell to the Lincoln County Lions and Moscow Bears in all three sets this week.

The Badgers are still No. 1 in league with Timberlake at a 3-10 record.

Badger volleyball competed at the Sheridan/Welch Crossover tournament on Saturday, Oct. 30, winning three out of seven matches against Washington teams.

Lincoln County 3, BF 0

The Lions defeated the Badgers in all three sets. The Badgers came close in the second set, staying within two points of the Lions most of the match. Unfortunately, the Lions went on a four-point run at 21-20 and won 25-21.

Sept. 27

Moscow 3, BF 0

(25-19, 25-21, 25-18)

The Badgers stuck with the Bears early on and inched back up the scoreboard, but once the Bears hit the 20-point mark Bonners Ferry couldn’t keep up the momentum in the first set.

The Badgers came closer in the second set, winning a long rally to come within a point, 14-15, but Moscow’s continual blocks gave them the advantage in the second and third sets.

Junior outside hitter Helene Rae led the Badgers in kills with 11. Senior Avery Bayer led in digs with 16.

Badger setter Ellie Falck had 23 assists. Rae led in serve receiving with 14, followed by Bayer with 11.

In serving aces, Sara Cummings and Bayer had one each.

Ellie Falck, Aspen Hill and Rae earned one block each.
