Announcement is made by the Civic League that the public rest area in the city hall is now open. The City Council has given full charge of the room to the ladies of the league, who have installed furniture and fixtures for the comfort of visitors.

One of the attractions at the county fair this year will be an Indian village to serve as living quarters for the members of the Kootenai Indian tribe, who will each day provide a number on the program in the form of tribal dances.

O.E. Bender, president and general manager of the Idaho Gold and Ruby Mining Company, was in the city yesterday and stated that work at the property at Leonia is progressing nicely and that the “clean-up” work will be continued this fall.

Miss Debbie Pluid was crowned Bonners Ferry Junior Miss for 1974 by earning the highest total number of points for all portions of the pageant. She received $300 in scholarships and will be Bonners Ferry’s official hostess for the coming year.

Badger running back Curt Watts exploded for two long touchdown runs in the first period Friday night, sending Bonners Ferry "gridders" on their way to a 26-14 drubbing of the Wallace Miners.

The Farmers Home Administration has approved a loan of $125,000 to the South Hill Water and Sewer District to help finance a water and sewer system for a rural area near Bonners Ferry, Senators Frank Church and James McClure announced Tuesday.

Callie Gahr is gearing up to make her original flaming hot chili for the Second Annual Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Oct. 4, in downtown Bonners Ferry. The harvest festival will also include food, arts, and various booths throughout downtown Bonners Ferry. Children can enter a coloring contest by picking up coloring sheets at participating businesses. A pumpkin carving contest for adults and children will be held at the Georgia Mae Plaza.

Bonners Ferry Boy’s Soccer team defeated Libby 3-1, bumping its overall record to 9-4-2, while they remain undefeated with a 4-0 record in the Intermountain League.
