Multiple cars burglarized in Priest River overnight
On the morning of Oct. 12, the Priest River Police Department responded to five car burglaries in the city.
The burglaries took place in the areas of Third Street between Jackson and Lincoln Avenues, and from Lincoln Avenue to Fourth Street, Priest River Police officials said.
Every one of the vehicles that was burglarized had been left unlocked. There there were a variety of items stolen out of each car, Priest River Police Chief Drew McLain said.
“PRPD wants to remind everyone to make your car a hard target for criminals by remembering to lock your vehicles and remove any valuables from them at night,” McLain said in a press release. “Also, PRPD recommends investing in an outdoor camera and lighting system that can illuminate your parking areas to deter criminals from targeting your car and your house.”
Per Idaho Code, vehicle burglary is a felony and is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
