VOLLEYBALL: Badgers fall to Bulldogs, earn first season win

SANDPOINT — The 3A Bonners Ferry volleyball team (1-3) came within six points of the 4A Sandpoint Bulldogs in the first set but lost in three (25-19, 25-13, 25-12) on Friday, Sept. 1.

Junior outside hitter Helene Rae led the Badgers in kills with 13, averaging 4.3 per set and a 50% kill percentage.

Junior Ellie Falck had two kills, with a 40% kill average, no errors, and .400 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Aspen Hill led the Badgers in serving with three aces, an 88.9% serving percentage, and serving five points.

Senior Sara Cummings led the Badgers with two blocks while fellow Badger senior Avery Bayer earned 11 digs, averaging 3.7 digs per set and 21 receptions.

Junior Rylie Kimball and Falck earned seven digs each in all three sets. Falck and freshman Taren Bateman earned nine assists each.

Bonners Ferry plays away at 4A Moscow on Thursday.

Volleyball: Badgers earn first season win

Bonners Ferry 3, Clark Fork 0

CLARK FORK — Badger volleyball (1-2) earned their first win of the season, defeating 1A Clark Fork (2-1) on Wednesday, Aug. 30 in three sets.

In the first set, Bonners Ferry got out to a quick 9-4 lead. The Wampus Cats got back to within a point, but after another Bonners Ferry run, Clark Fork could not keep up. The Badgers would come away with a 25-16 set win.

The Badgers got off to a similar start in the second set, leading 18-5. At one point, Clark Fork went a five-point run, but the Badgers maintained their dominance on the court, winning 25-14.

In the third set, the Wampus Cats seemed to finally get into a rhythm. Mid-way through the set, Clark Fork led 17-14 but let up, resulting in a six-point Badger run. The Badgers used that momentum to win the set, 25-18, completing the sweep on Wednesday.
