100 Years Ago

Nearly one-half million trout fry have been planted in the streams of Boundary County within the past three months, according to Deputy Game Warden W.H. Heathershaw, who has had charge of the releasing of fish obtained from the state hatchery near Sandpoint.

A deal was closed this week whereby the Motor Inn Garage, located on First Street, was sold by Tony Berger to C.H. Goodman, who took possession Monday.

A fire alarm box has been placed on the City Hall building on Main Street in order that an alarm can be turned in without having to go to a telephone or to the signal box on the fire siren tower.

Mike Cowley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Roy Cowley, and his paint mare help him earn Champion 4-H Horse Showman and also the Selkirk Saddle Club Champion showman Trophy at the Boundary County Fair. His horse, Misty, earned a first place ribbon in her class.

Two victories in a row over Sandpoint football team was just not to be Friday night as the red and white crew, under the leadership of Colton Barlow, humiliated the Bonners Ferry Badgers by a lopsided 32-0.

Paradise Valley Fire Association hopes to become Paradise Valley Fire District. The new name would allow the fire department to levy a property tax on the owners of 1,100 properties within their jurisdiction.

Two men have been charged with killing a cow moose and taking its newborn calf, which died two weeks later. Both were charged with two counts of possession of unlawful taking of big game, said Greg Johnson, senior officer for Idaho Department of Fish and Game in Boundary County. The felony charges could result in a lifetime loss of hunting privileges, fines up to $10,000 and up to five years in prison.

Former DARE officer Joel Minor has been promoted to Bonners Ferry Deputy Police Chief.
