Badger volleyball on three-game winning streak
BONNERS FERRY — Badger volleyball (4-4) went 3-1 against the Lakeside (Plummer) Knights (1-6) on Sept 26.
The Badgers won 25-18, 25-16, 25-23, 25-15.
In set one the Badgers started as a dominant force, with Taren Bateman earning three aces early in the set. Other attacks by the Badgers including an ace by Ellie Falck and kills by Helene Rae and Rylie Kimball put the Badgers ahead 15-6.
Toward the second half of the first and second sets the Knights slowly inched up the scoreboard and finally held with the Badgers in the third set and surpassed them causing a fourth set.
The Badgers collected themselves and made quick work of the Knights in the fourth set, winning 25-15.
Senior Avery Bayer, returned from injury and led the team in aces with 8, and in digs with 33.
Outside hitter junior Helene Rae led the Badgers in kills with 20. Sara Cummings and Rylie Kimball earned two blocks each.
Freshman Taren Bateman was all over the state sheet earning 7 kills, 6 aces and 11 digs.
The Badgers played 4A Moscow (3-9) on Wednesday, the story will appear in next week's paper.

BF 3, Stillwater Christian 2
BONNERS FERRY — Badger volleyball won the best of five sets against the Stillwater Christian Cougars (1-2) on Sept. 22.
The Badgers won 30-28, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12.
Rae led the team in kills with 15, followed by Bateman with 9. Rae and Bateman also led the Badgers in aces with five.
Sara Cummings had two solo blocks. The Badgers defended against the Cougars utilizing digs with Bayer and Savannah Rickter earring 25, Rae with 22 and Cummings with 21.
