Local club helps youth pursue dreams

| September 28, 2023 1:00 AM

A Boundary County youth has gotten a little bit of help to pursue her dreams from a local bridge club.

Trinity Newman was presented a $500 donation from the Bonners Ferry Bridge Club, which is an ACBL national bridge club. The funds will help Newman continue with her equine pursuits, Marlene Manion, co-director of the club, said.

"The bridge club hopes to promote youths pursuing their interests by providing donations," Manion added.

Newman is a worthy recipient of the award, which will help her pursue her interests in horses. The youth competes at the Boundary County Fair.

While the club has given donations in the past, it's the first time the club has selected an individual for an award, Manion said.

The bridge club, which has been a part of the community for the past 12 years, got to know the youth from her sale of eggs to members.

"We have given small donations in the past, but we decided to take Trinity under our wing this year because she loves riding and competing, and we love the fact that we could support a young person and encourage them to pursue their dream," said Manion, who is co-director of the local club along with Mark Manion.

The youth is so dedicated to her sport that she continued to ride even after her horse rolled on her, Marlene Manion said.

"She is such a sweetheart and we love being a part of her life," she said.
