This photograph was recently donated to the Boundary County Museum by the Harold Stephenson estate. It was taken by Edgar Stephenson from The Valley Studio.

It is a wonderful aerial view of the Cow Creek area looking northeast. Note the "Y" in the Cow Creek Road on the left side of the photo. The road to Crossport runs along the Kootenai River. The diked road across the field near the old town site of Crossport can be seen on the right side of the photo.

The area south of the Kootenai River is now known as Drainage District No. 15, however, most of the land was originally owned by the Fitzpatrick and the Desmond families.

The Boundary County Historical Society and Museum, 7229 Main St., Bonners Ferry, Idaho, sponsors this column.

Visit the museum Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or visit the museum's website at boundarycountymuseum.org or its Facebook page for historical photos and stories, and to see upcoming events. The museum can be reached at doyouremember@meadowcrk.com or by telephone at 208-267-7720. Thank you for your continued support.
