CLUB WRESTLING: Locals win big at Columbia Cup, King & Queens

COLUMBIA CUP

PASCO — Bonners Ferry’s Savannah Rickter won titles in both Greco-Roman and Folkstyle and placed second in Freestyle to lead all area wrestlers at the Washington State Wrestling Association Women’s Columbia Cup held Saturday, April 6, at the HAPO Center.

In Greco, Rickter, competing in the Junior Women 155-170 division, won all three of her matches by pin. In Folkstyle, at 155 pounds, she also won two matches by pin and one by forfeit to take home gold. To round out an impressive weekend, she then placed second in Freestyle at 170 pounds, winning two out of her three matches. Overall, she went 8-1 during the tourney.

Sandpoint’s Hunter Edmondson (16U 112) won a title in Folkstyle, picking up two wins by pin. Edmondson also placed third in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at 118 pounds. Overall, she was 6-4 on the weekend. 

Bonners Ferry’s Aubree Graves (16U 130) also won two titles on Saturday, taking first in both Freestyle and Folkstyle. She won all four of her Folkstyle matches by pin, won three matches in Freestyle, and then picked up a win in Greco to place second. Graves, like Rickter, went a combined 8-1 at the tourney.

KINGS & QUEENS TOURNEY

BOYS

RATHDRUM — Bonners Ferry’s Dalton Regher won three total titles, two in Freestyle and one in Greco-Roman, at the Kings & Queens Wrestling Tournament held Saturday, April 6, at Lakeland High.

Regehr won the 12U 86-pound and 92-pound divisions in Freestyle, winning all six of his matches by technical fall. In Greco, he won both his matches at 91 pounds to take home his third title of the day. Regehr finished an impressive 8-0 overall.

Sandpoint’s Zak Wood (14U 114) also won titles in both Greco and Freestyle, finishing a combined 5-0 on the weekend. He won two matches by pin, two by technical fall, and one by forfeit. Sandpoint’s Miro Parr-Coffin (14U 92) also won a Greco title, winning all three of his matches by technical fall on his way to gold.

Sandpoint’s Dominic Ratigan (16U 150) was the fourth and final local champion, placing first in Freestyle. Ratigan won all three of his matches, two by pin and one by technical fall.

GIRLS

Bonners Ferry’s Sofia Brown took home titles in Greco-Roman and Freestyle at the Kings & Queens Wrestling Tournament on Saturday. 

Brown went 4-0 in the 16U and Junior 143-pound division to capture both titles. Sandpoint’s Kaysha Kimura also picked up a win and placed second in the same division. Mackenzee Donenfeld (Girls 16U & Junior 100) was third in her weight class.

In Freestyle, Donenfeld (16U & Junior 105) and Kimura (16U & Junior 143) both placed second. Donenfeld went a combined 3-3 overall; Kimura finished 2-2.
