COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Alexander runs new personal best in 10,000-meter run

Connor Alexander dropped 45 seconds off his 10,000-meter run time, clocking a new personal best of 32:53.34 at the Whitworth Peace Meet held Friday, April 5 at Boppell Track. The Bonners Ferry alumni’s time was good enough for ninth of 17 runners.

Lewis-Clark will compete next at the NNU Invitational set to be held Saturday in Nampa.

Jantzen Lucas, Lewis-Clark State College Baseball

Jantzen Lucas continues to show out for the Warriors. In a recent 8-7 walk-off win against the College of Idaho, Lucas pitched four innings in relief giving up one hit, one earned run, and two walks while striking out six batters. Before getting into some trouble in the seventh inning, the Priest River native did not allow a baserunner in his first four innings of work. It was Lucas’s longest outing of the season and he lowered his season ERA to an impressive 3.00.

No. 8 Lewis-Clark (23-9) hosts No. 2 LSU-Shreveport (32-3) for four games between Apr. 12-14.

Camille Ussher, Spokane CC Track & Field

Bonners Ferry’s Camille Ussher ran a new personal best 800-meter run time of 2:17.45 at the Whitworth Peace Meet, placing ninth out of 55 runners. Ussher, who is committed to Lewis-Clark State next year, beat out 17 NCAA Division I athletes at the meet.

Spokane CC will also head to the NNU Invitational on Saturday.

TJ Davis, Eastern Oregon University Track & Field

TJ Davis threw a new personal best mark of 149 feet and five inches in the javelin throw at the Whitworth Peace Meet this past Friday. The Sandpoint Alumni was 13th out of 24 competitors. 

The Mountaineers are headed to Portland, Ore. on Saturday for the Larry Byerly Invite hosted by Lewis & Clark College.
