Bonners Ferry 9-3

Kellogg 0-8

BONNERS FERRY — Sophomore Jack Woods struck out eight in a complete game in the opener for the Badgers, who split a non-league doubleheader with the Wildcats at Bonners Ferry.

“Jack pitched a very, very good game,” said Bonners Ferry coach Tom Turpin. “We had a good game defensively in the opener. It was just a good, clean game.”

Senior Travis Eixenberger struck out four over six innings in the second game for the Wildcats.

“Eixenberger pitched a really strong game,” Turpin said. “We started Trey (Bateman) in the second game, and they came out swinging the bats. They definitely earned it in the second game.”

Sadie Frederickson went three-of-four scoring two runs, Jaydin Falck went three-of-four scoring one run and Ava Frederickson went three-of-four and one run.

Curtis was injured in a collision with a base runner at first base when the two collided. She was taken to the hospital, and sustained bruising on her neck, but will be fit to play the rest of the season.

Kellogg led 8-7 in the fifth. Bonners Ferry dug deep trying to stay in the game, but Kellogg out scored the Badgers 9 to 6 in the sixth and won 14-11.

The Badgers were scheduled for a doubleheader against the Wildcats, but due to umpires’ confusion over the game location, the first game was delayed resulting in only one game being played.
