BONNERS FERRY — Boundary County School District office has moved from Oak Street to Valley View Elementary on Augusta Street.

BCSD officially moved on April 1, with the help of custodial staff during spring break. Their address is 6770 Augusta St., Bonners Ferry.

On April 3, 2023, a vehicle struck the district building and a beam, causing structural damage outside of Superintendent Jan Bayer’s office.

Due to the damage, Bayer had to work in the conference room instead of her office for several months. The school board agreed to spend $10,000 to repair damage at the district office, however the repairs only brought the building into compliance. Rather, the board decided not to spend an additional $46,000 to repair the brick with the long-term plan for the district office to go to Valley View Elementary and to sell the district office. Additionally, the roof leaked at the former office.

Board members decided they did not wish to invest in offices when an elementary school needs to be rebuilt.

Bayer said district office staff are making due at Valley View. She thanked custodial staff for making the move possible.

BCSD will need to look at additional storage options, specifically a new vault, physical or digital in order to store curriculum, present and past student files.
