P.E.O. fundraiser set for April 26
This year’s Philanthropic Educational Organization Yard and Garden Sale is being held on Friday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 158 Meadow Creek Road, Bonners Ferry. All proceeds from this donation-only sale help fund college scholarships for female graduates of Bonners Ferry High School.
Last year, P.E.O. awarded four $1,000 college scholarships to Jasmine Daniels, Trew Lammers, Emma Lucas and Kaylee McCabe. The scholarships were funded through proceeds from the sale as well as PEO’s holiday nut sales in the fall.
The yard sale includes clothes, household goods, fabric, and a large selection of seedlings and plants for homes and gardens.
The mission of PEO, founded over 150 years ago, is to provide inspiration and educational opportunities for women. Chapter AP in Bonners Ferry has been in existence since 1937. Local college scholarships began in 1956. Since 2000 the chapter has provided 36 college scholarships for local women.
