PREP TRACK: Abubakari wins discus at Christina Finney

POST FALLS — Asha Abubakari won the discus Christina Finney Co-Ed Relays hosted by Post Falls High on Tuesday with a throw at 118-9. 

Abubakari took second in the shot put at 39–00.

Bonners Ferry will compete at the Oregon Relays at the University of Oregon on April 19 and 20.

Bonners Ferry track teams split up over the weekend competing in four track and field meets in two days.  

MOSCOW INVITATIONAL

MOSCOW — Junior Helene Rae took first in the shot put for Bonners Ferry with a throw of 39-11 as Bonners Ferry finished fifteenth at the Moscow Invitational on Friday, April 12.

PASCO INVITATIONAL

PASCO—Senior Asha Abubakari was the lone Badger representing Bonners Ferry at the Pasco Invitational on Saturday, April 13, taking third in the shot put and fourth in the discus. 

Abubakria threw 41’ 8.5 in the shot put, with Ivy Smith from 4A Sandpoint taking second place at 41– 11. 75. Addy McArthur from 3A University (Washington)  won the event with a throw of 43– 4.75. 

At the discus, Abubakari threw a 125’ 11, scoring 11 points for Bonners Ferry, who tied for 19th place with  4A Lake Stevens (WA)  and 3A Mt. Spokane (WA). 

VAN KUREN INVITATIONAL

CHENEY, Wash. —Hallie Hartman won the shot put for Bonners Ferry at 37–1 ½ at the Van Kuren Invite hosted by Cheney High on Saturday, April 13. 

Bonners Ferry girls finished in sixth and the boys finished in 22nd.

KELLOGG RELAYS

KELLOGG— Bonners Ferry excelled at the 4x400 men's relay and 4x400 mixed relay taking second place at the Kellogg Relays on Saturday. 

Bonners Ferry men's 4x400m relay earned a new personal record at 4:11.10, with Devin Sceppe, Andrew Gardner, Matthias Gardner and Joseph Rogers running legs. 

In the 4x400 mixed relay, Bonners Ferry took second at 4:49.26, with Aulana Russell, Paige Sartell, Darian Jacobson and Joseph Rogers running legs. 

In the 4x100 relay, Bonners Ferry girls finished in third at 51.56, Kellogg took second at 51.27. Eva Willis, Ireland Grady, Taren Bateman and Makenna Baisden competed for Bonners Ferry.
