Shuman cares deeply about county, rule of law

| April 18, 2024 1:00 AM

I am voting for Dave Shuman for Boundary County Sheriff. Dave has spent over 40 years in service to others.

He first committed to support and defend the U.S. Constitution with his life if need be. You don’t spend 20 years in that service if you don’t take that seriously, and you don’t become a senior NCO without real-world leadership skills.

Then, Dave moved here and served again for 20-plus years, learning through experience, the worst and the best of this community. He clearly did not come here to change Bonners Ferry into something else, he settled here because this is where he wanted to be. If he were motivated to climb the ladder of success, he would have gone to a larger city.

If you attend one of his meet-and-greets, you will very likely hear heartfelt testimonies and thanks from lifelong residents whose lives he touched and some he may have saved. I went and I saw real tears, admiration, and love, from the people he has served. Dave cares about this community and its people.

Dave’s not a politician, but what he lacks in polish, he makes up for in courage, integrity, and commitment to the rule of law. I have personally witnessed him doing the right thing over the easy thing, even though he knew it would make him unpopular. That’s what I want in the top law enforcement official in my county. That’s why I am voting for Dave Shuman.
