Quite a number of local people went to Herman's Lake, located on the new Moyie Highway, last Sunday and enjoyed the fine bathing facilities there. The old road missed the lake by about a half a mile, but the new road runs alongside it, making one of the most accessible lakes in the county.
U.S. Immigration Officer Hart of Gateway, Montana was here Tuesday making arrangements to put on a patrol at this point to apprehend persons making unlawful entry from Canada. Officer Hart said quite a number of Canadians were reported entering the United States without the formality of visiting immigration officers stationed at various towns along the border.
Every indication points to District No. 3 as the next reclaimed of the Kootenai Valley. In the four districts already organized this spring, a total of 12,700 acres will come in line for reclamation within the next two years. This, together with the 4,400 acres included in Drainage District No. 1, already reclaimed, will represent about one-half of the 35,000 acres of bottomland in Boundary County.

Approximately 10 wine bottles were stolen early Tuesday morning from the Idaho Liquor Store in Bonners Ferry. Someone broke into the liquor store by throwing a rock through the window.
General Telephone's new telephone directory will be issued tomorrow, Friday, District Manager Bill Watkins said today.
The Highbridgers 4-H Club on July 20 cleaned up litter from the State Line area. They then ate lunch at Herman Lake and had their meeting.

The cause of an Aug. 3 fire that destroyed Riverside Auto Center remains undetermined, however it may have been triggered by an extension cord, said Bonners Ferry Fire Chief Pat Warkentin. Insurance will cover the loss, and plans to rebuild at the same location are underway, said Bill Hiatt, Jr., president of the downtown Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge dealership.
Dusty Hank's adventurous spirit has earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. A 1994 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School who spent his younger years skiing and dirt bike racing was one of 108 skydivers who built a head-down formation to set the new record.
About 25 of the new Boundary County road name signs and at least a dozen private road name signs have been stolen in the past year, according to Renee Nelson, office manager for the county road and bridge dept.
