Two dedicated Community Restorium employees have been recognized with the Ray Olsen "We Care" Award, recognizing their exceptional service and compassion.

Connie Gentry, who has worked at the facility since September 2012, and Shelley McPherson received certificates, cash awards and special recognition from the Restorium Residents Council and Friends of the Restorium.

“Selected for this award by the residents you serve so skillfully and with such good cheer,” Restorium officials wrote on Gentry's certificate. “Your 12 years of service since joining the Restorium staff Sept. 19, 2012, are greatly appreciated and a fitting testament to your kind and compassionate heart.”

McPherson was celebrated for her hard work, good nature, wit and ability to brighten spirits with her laughter.

“Selected for this award by the residents you serve with such compassion and fun,” officials wrote on McPherson's certificate. “Your hard work and good nature are appreciated, but it’s your wit and laughter that brightens our spirits.”

Each honoree received a $50 check, a month of preferred parking, a $30 gift certificate to Springs Restaurant and a bouquet of fresh flowers donated by Paula Rice of Bee Haven Flower Farm.

The award was established by Ray Stanley Olson, a former long-time resident who, along with his wife Hazel, found a loving community at the Restorium. After his wife's passing, Olson remained active in the community, tending a garden that provided fresh produce and flowers for residents and staff until his death in January 2016.

Through the "We Care" Award, Olson's legacy of appreciation for dedicated staff continues to recognize those who make the Community Restorium a warm and welcoming home.
