PREP WRESTLING: Dodd places fourth at Tri-State Invitational

BOYS

COEUR d'ALENE — Sophomore Taylor Dodd went 3-2 en route to a fourth-place finish at the Tri-State Invitational held this past Friday and Saturday at North Idaho College.

Dodd won by a 5-2 decision in his opening round bout and by a 5-4 decision in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals, which were held on the second day of the tournament. On day two, Dodd, after falling in the semis, picked an 8-4 win by decision in the consolation semifinals before falling just shy in the third-place match.

Hunter Pope added a win by pin in his first bout for Bonners Ferry, which placed 50th out of 55 scoring teams with 18 points, 14 of which came from Dodd.

GIRLS

RATHDRUM — Senior Sofia Brown won her 138-pound round robin bracket to lead the Lady Badgers to a tied for fifth-place finish out of 13 teams at the Lakeland Girls Tournament held this past Saturday at Lakeland High.

Therrien placed third out of five wrestlers in the 114-pound pound round robin bracket, going 2-2 on the weekend with a win by pin and a win by decision. Kylie Calderone was second in the 100-pound round bracket, going 1-1 and picking up a win by pin.

Bonners Ferry's boys and girls teams will both compete Friday and Saturday at the George Wild Invitational hosted by Kellogg.
