Homestead Produce earns Local Food Leader Award

| December 26, 2024 1:00 AM

Homestead Produce, a pioneering farm in Bonners Ferry, has been awarded the Local Food Leader Award at this year's Selkirk-Pend Oreille Food Summit.

The award, presented at the November 8 summit, recognizes the farm's outstanding contributions to sustainable agriculture and local food systems.

Founded in 2012 by first-generation farmers Jordan and Kayla Dyck, Homestead Produce has become a beacon of innovation and sustainability in the farming community. Known for their mobile coop-pastured eggs and regenerative, organically grown garlic, the Dycks have dedicated themselves to environmentally friendly farming practices that prioritize soil health and biodiversity.

The winner of the Local Food Leader award is selected by attendees of the food summit, reflecting both farmer-to-farmer and community appreciation for Homestead Produce's efforts and impact.

"We are deeply honored to receive this award," said Jordan Dyck. "Our focus has always been to provide high-quality, sustainable food to our community, and this recognition inspires us to continue pushing forward."

The Selkirk-Pend Oreille Food Summit is held each November at the University of Idaho Sandpoint Organic Agriculture Center.
