Over 80 families served at food drive
Joint efforts by Boundary County School District, Community Action, and the pastoral team (In His Image) at Mountain Springs Church, have helped feed 80 families for the Christmas holiday.
“Thank you to the leadership classes for organizing the friendly competition between the middle school and high school to see who could collect the most hams and turkeys for the community. The middle school did beat the high school, again. It is still exciting to report that the students collected over 150 hams and turkeys.” Jan Bayer, BCSD Superintendent said about the food drive.
The event was a success with support and help from local churches, businesses and Boundary County residents.
Bayer went on to thank those who were involved in the organization of the food drive. “Thank you to Lisa Iverson and Kelly Hinthorn for arranging all the students to help at Mountain Springs. Thank you to Bill for driving the bus. Thank you to the leadership teachers, Jaycee Atkins and Kelly Hinthorn, for their efforts and inspiring our students to give back to their community. Kudos to our students for helping make the day a success. They all learned some valuable lessons.”
“Thank you to Samantha Cote Banuet for organizing the event and keeping all of us focused. Thank you to the group of pastors (In His Image) and Community Action that came together to support a common need in our community. I look forward to everyone working together to serve our community in the future.”
Organizer, Samantha Cote Banuet was also pleased with the outcome of the event. Banuet recently spear headed the organization for the Community Action Thanksgiving food drive, which fed over 100 families.
“Through God's grace we were able to brighten Christmas for 80 families who were served yesterday.” Banuet said about the event. “This took an incredible amount of time and effort by everyone involved - including the Pastoral Team (In His Image), Rebecca Huseby's caroling team, and myself alongside Liz Bigsby-Sanborn at Community Action Partnership. Local sponsors helped behind the scenes; BF Fredrickson's Garbage, Bushnell Law, the Leonard Family, the Trowbridge, ProX Western Building Center, Selkirk Kennels, and many other anonymous donors.”
